Real Madrid vs Sporting de Gijon (2-1)

Ronaldo (4′) (17′) | Carmona (34′)

Real Madrid secured a hard fought 2-1 victory thanks to a first half brace by Cristiano Ronaldo.  Sporting de Gijon did show great heart and determination during the match but Real Madrid’s class shone through.  Carlos Carmona did put Sporting back in the game in the 34th minute and Sporting could have even equalised through a penalty, however Duje Cop put the effort high and wide.

Espanyol vs Leganes (3-0)

Moreno (45′), Piatti (50′) (87′) |

Espanyol secured their first home win of the season as 2 goals early on in the second half from Gerard Moreno and Pablo Piatti did the damage for Espanyol.  Piatti added another goal later on in the game to make give a sweet taste to Espanyol’s victory and move their unbeaten run to 7 games.  Leganes goalkeeper was forced off with an injury in the 27th minute and this could have been a contributing factor to Leganes’s defeat.

Sevilla FC vs Valencia CF (2-1)

Garay OG(52′), Pareja (74′) | Munir El Haddadi (65′)

Sevilla see themselves move equal on points with 2nd placed Barcelona after a 2-1 win over Valencia on Saturday.  A fairly boring first half gave way to a much more entertaining second half which started with an Ezequiel Garay own goal, however Munir El Haddadi cancelled this out 12 minutes.  You could see throughout the match Sevilla were missing out on Samir Nasri, but they had enough quality to see off Valencia in the 74th minute thanks to a goal by Nico Pareja.

Goals from Ibai and Camarasa saw off a shocked Villarreal in a great first half victory.  Winger Ibai put the away side ahead after 7 minutes played after a header from Deyverson came off of the post following a cross in from Edgar.  Camarasa then doubled Alavés lead in the 19th minute taking advantage of some terrible defending by centre half Mateo Musacchio.  These goals were enough to see off Villarreal for Alavés.

Osasuna vs Atlético de Madrid (0-3)

|Godin (35′), Gameiro (36′), Carrasco (89′)

19th place strugglers were seen off comfortably by title challengers Atletico Madrid.  Atletico opened the scoring with Godin getting on the end of Koke’s corner and then their lead was doubled 90 seconds later as Gameiro got clear through onto the end of Angel Correra’s lofted pass and then calmly put the ball past the Osasuna goalkeeper.  Super sub Carrasco came off the bench in the second half to seal Atletico’s victory thanks to some great counter attacking play by Ateltico.

Vigo continued on with their great home form with a convincing 3-1 victory over bottom of the table Granada.  Aspas put the first goal of the game away in the 22nd minute, his 10th goal in 10th goal in 17 games.  21 year old Theo Bongonda then found the net for the first time in the 38th minute.  Although Artem Kravets pulled one back for Granada late on in the game, but it was sealed by Pape Diop in the 92nd minute to stretch  Granada’s  winless streak to 13.

Real Sociedad vs Barcelona (1-1)

Jose (52′) | Messi (58′)

Barcelona’s terrible record at Real Sociedad’s ground continued with the Catalan being lucky to come away from the match with a draw as Sociedad were denied a clear winner late on when Juanmi was incorrectly ruled offside.  Willian Jose opened the scoring for the home side making it look like Barcelona’s poor record against Sociedad would continue.  However their goal was cancelled out 6 minutes later by Leo Messi.  The decision against Juanmi was clearly the wrong decision and we feel that Sociedad were robbed of a deserved victory because of it.
